Charity Work
Currently, the UCLA supports a number of charitable causes. It is important to the club that we continually give back to the community, by supporting charities that align with our Liberal values.
In the 2010-2011 academic year, we were proud to have raised a total of $1000 for the Child Soldiers Initiative through our Death by Chocolate silent auction (March 2011) and our raffle at the Bob Rae Town Hall event (April 2011). The Child Soldiers Initiative was started by Liberal Senator Romeo Dallaire, and we were happy to support their outreach group, called Zero Force.
In the 2011-2012 academic year, the club raised $200 for the Child Soldiers Initiative, through a lecture and movie night about child soldiers and Romeo Dallaire (December 2011). In March 2012, the club raised $555 for Save a Child’s Heart at our Death by Chocolate silent auction. Save a Child’s Heart is a charity that provides free lifesaving heart surgeries to children in developing countries.
